We Belong

Today, we made VT’s first ever t-shirt, complete with students names on the backside. One of our students teared up upon making her own shirt and helping the others. She shared with me that she was so excited to have her very own VT shirt with a logo and that she’s been wanting one for a long time. That moment was a reminder to me of how important it is to experience a sense of belonging. She has longed to be a part of a group, to belong to a community. The pride in which she wore her shirt today will not leave my memory quickly.
